She married Paul Joseph (Joe) Manley Sr. on March 10, 1946 in Baltimore. Boots and Joe lived in Maryland, California, Virginia, North Carolina and Germany during Joe’s military career. No matter where the family lived, she provided a wonderful home.
She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Mooresville. Boots unshakable faith was exemplified by her dedication to family and home.
If there ever was a Renaissance Woman it would be Boots. She was many things to many people. She was the strength behind a dedicated Marine for 64 years. She was a wonderful mother who raised 3 boys, Paul, Todd and Conner, a loving grandmother to Chris, Scott, Brooks and Nikki, a great grandmother to Cole, Briar, Kota, and Addison and an unwavering friend to many with her positive attitude and captivating smile. Boots had many talents that she unselfishly shared with others. As a tailor, she taught sewing, she was an accomplished ice skater, a fantastic cook, a 30-year Red Cross volunteer and an extraordinary watercolorist. All who knew Boots, loved her deeply.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents, were 2 brothers; Arthur and Wade and 2 sisters; Anna and Mary.
