Claude Hildreth's Obituary
Claude Melvin Hildreth, 80, of Huntersville died May 1, 2014 at CMC Northeast. He was born on August 7, 1933 in Pageland, SC to the late Wilson and Lillie Moree Hildreth. Claude graduated Pageland High School in 1952 and attended Charlotte College. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Rea Construction as a materials engineer after 37 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntersville. He was also a life member of the Derita Masonic Lodge #715 (40 years). He served as master in 1989, chaplain in 2014 and was chairman of the Widows Committee.
Survivors include his wife Violet Price Hildreth; son Alan of Huntersville; grandchildren, Travis and Shannon and great-grandchild, Gavin; sister, Sarah Woodring of Charlotte; brothers, Jamie (Kitty) of Pageland and Ralph (Linda) of Charlotte. He is preceded in death by his brothers Bill, Ted and Harry Hildreth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 119 N. Old Statesville Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078 or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 950 W Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 3 at First Baptist Church in Huntersville with Rev. Tina Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary following the service. Burial will be private in the church cemetery at a later date.
