Claudia Allison Grant Clayton's Obituary
Claudia Allison Grant Clayton, age 48, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Born on October 22, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of John Emanuel Grant and Vesey Grant. Claudia was the wife of James Daniel Clayton, Jr.
Claudia was known for her love and her adoration of her family. Family was always her priority, and she worked endlessly to build a family that was rooted in love and strength.
From an early age, Claudia showed both interest and talent in the arts. She was a natural-born singer and dancer and went to school in New York to study both professionally. She was happiest when there was a song in her heart, which was all the time.
Her gifts were endless, but she made a career out of her gift for enriching young children. She was always teaching, and caring. Parents were excited to entrust their children in her care because they knew it was her purpose.
Claudia was a believer in Christ, she was extremely active in her home church, Mosaic Church. She was a member of icuTalks, a nonprofit ministry involving the care, maintenance, and awareness of mental health.
She is leaving behind a strong legacy encompassed in self care in its entirety. She was an avid CrossFit athlete who loved to run. She found joy in practicing self care through fitness and wellbeing. As the manager of The KidZone at Vitality Fitness, her home gym, she enjoyed providing a service that gave other parents the opportunity to indulge in self care as well.
In addition to her husband James and her parents John and Vesey, Claudia was a devoted and loving mother to her four children; Mahogany, Jalah, Danielle, and Miles. She also leaves behind her four siblings: Annette Simone Grant, Laurian Nobrega (Joseph), Corwin Grant, and Denise Grant and five nieces and nephews; Tristan Marrow, Sydney Nobrega, Madison Nobrega, McKenzie Nobrega and John Grant. Claudia also leaves behind a large extended family, and loyal friends that will miss her very much.
Claudia’s family will receive friends at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in the chapel of James Funeral Home. Her Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM. A reception will follow the service at Mosaic Church, Burial will be private.
