Colene Worley Deaton's Obituary
Colene Worley Deaton went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2013. She was born on December 27, 1931 in Centre, AL. She was preceded in death by her birth mother and father Tip Worley, as well her step mother Tempie.
Colene was a faithful wife to Marvin for almost 35 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, G.L. Heaton, Jr. She was a devoted mother to Charlotte Duncan (David), Jeanne Mitravijarn (Mike, deceased), Renee Shoemaker (Jeff), Tammye Teague (Gerald) and step-mother to Sheila Zeman (Tommy), Sharon Henson (Roger) and Steve Deaton. Colene was a loving sister and “Nannie” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Before her illness she was an active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, retiree from Freightliner and volunteer and fundraiser for UMAR Barnabas House. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time at the beach.
The family wishes to thank those who have lovingly cared for Colene over the past five years. She courageously faced each day with a smile, no matter what her challenges. She was admired by so many.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 19600 Zion Street Cornelius, NC 28031 on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 12:00 PM with burial following in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the funeral service in church sanctuary.
