Cynthia Holshouser's Obituary
Miss Cynthia Marie B. Holshouser , age 35, of Charlotte, N.C., drew her last earthly breath, on March 21,2024, at 9:37 pm, at Novant Main (Presbyterian Hospital) of Charlotte, N.C., where she was also born. She died due to complications involving, and incurred by, a procedure that had been performed on her.
Cynthia began 5k AT Northside Christian Academy and graduated 12th grade from Independence High School. There are volumes to be written between those dates, and since her birth, and joy beyond measure in getting to experience them with her! She was a devoted sister, who, although unable to participate in sports and other activities, was ALWAYS on the sidelines, or in the bleachers, or anywhere else that her sister was, cheering her on with encouragement, and undying love and devotion. She was there for her, whenever, and wherever she needed her, loving her with every ounce of her being…in sports, in life, in love! Cynthia was, and remains, a bright light in our world, and a true blessing to all those that had the privilege of knowing her, and even many that did not. While she was growing up she would save up money to send to Water For Life, to drill water wells in countries where the water was contaminated. She LOVED photos and photography, even with her vision having been severely impaired at age 12 months, by a doctor using experimental eye drops in her eyes, that ate holes through her corneas. She LOVED to paint! She was EXTREMELY CREATIVE, INTELLIGENT, INTUITIVE, AND ESPECIALLY SAVVY. She was kind and gentle, with a heart of gold, and that made her vulnerable, to being hurt and manipulated, and taken advantage of, by those who were not genuine, and TRUE to her love, devotion, and friendship. She was toughened by life, however, and although limited by her inability to come and go as she pleased, due to transportation, it didn’t stop her from having a keen sense of style and color coordination. She hand-made custom designed gifts for friends and family, that everyone LOVED and CHERISHED, and even asked that she create them for sell. Cynthia focused on others. She would not only design, create and develop, but personally orchestrate, parties to give for everyone she loved, including, but not limited to, primarily paying for, and setting them up, with help from me, her mom. She was so thoughtful that no one was left out, not even her ‘’fur-babies”. Having lost her only child, Caicey Emery Ocean “Johnson” , to a miscarriage, Cynthia doted on her two ferrets, Edward and Bella, and her dog Star.
Cynthia loved with her WHOLE HEART. She was adored by many, but few there were, that had the privilege of her calling them, her “best” friend. I am the most fortunate of all….because I had the honor of her calling me MOM. And I was blessed beyond measure to call her my daughter! Cynthia LOVED LIFE, even in the midst of the unending struggle that plagued her very existence, and she did NOT want to die. Even unto the end, she suffered and fought valiantly, attempting to make it to the beach, but did not make it…nor home, where she longed to be. She wanted to “escape” to the beach, and be in the sun and sand, and relax, and forget all the grief, heartache, pain, strife, suffering, disappointment, neglect, and BETRAYAL…and just BE.
She is survived by her Mother, Dana Holshouser, her sister Candace Woodward, her nephew James D. Coyle, and 4 others, her ferrets Edward and Bella, and her dog Star, her Great-Aunts Shirley Brown and June Williams, her very best friend Jessi Winslow, and her best friend Keren Potter, and her fiancée of almost 15 years David Johnson, his sister Amber Johnson, his nephew A.J. Johnson, and David’s parents Don and Betty Johnson.
