Cyrus Houck's Obituary
Cyrus C. Houck, 80 of Charlotte died April 3 at his home. He was born on May 20, 1935 in Waynesville, NC to the late George and Ruby Houck. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Allen and sister, Shirley H. Yarborough and Phyllis H. Cloninger. He joined the US Navy and was embedded into the US Marines as a Corpman his entire tour, 1952-55. He was a master craftsman. He worked for Thomas CadillacOlds, Phil Clark Olds and Gowan dealership before becoming an independent auto repairman in 1971.
Survivors include his wife Vivian; sister, Edith H. Jordan; son, William Houck; daughter, Susan Russell and grandchild, Michael Russell and wife Jessica; 2 great-grandchildren, Lucas and Preston Russell, many wonderful nephews, nieces and special cousin Hugh (Skip) Ireson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 9 at Pleasant Grove U.M.C. at 2:00. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 prior.
