Dana Baker's Obituary
Dana Catlin Baker, 61, died at home in Davidson, NC, June 10, 2021. Dana was born January 23, 1960 in Charlotte, NC. She graduated from West Charlotte High School and received a BA in English from University of Colorado Boulder.
She is survived by husband Chuck Baker; children Sabrina Moore (Robert), Denton, TX, Lexie Wilson (Kevin), Madison, WI, and Garrett Baker, Davidson, NC. Also surviving are her parents Rosemary Neill, Kernersville, NC, and Rolfe Neil, Charlotte, NC; siblings, Clifford Neill, Mount Gilead, NC, Ashley Flair (Jay), Albemarle, NC, Ingrid Ebert (Keith), Kernersville, NC, and Quentin Neill, Charlotte, NC.
Dana was a passionate learner as well as teacher. She taught English as a second language and citizenship classes to refugees at Central Piedmont Community College. She admired their determination and endeavored to guide them through the labyrinthine US citizenship process. All who met Dana felt a singular warmth and recognition. Including her students, who frequently invited her to memorable family events.
She was a decorated athlete in swimming, field hockey, and soccer and continued a commitment to physical health through ardent hiking, walking, and time spent in nature. Dana always sought out differing viewpoints and new information. While she was flexible and dynamic in thinking, Dana was also steadfast in spirit, demonstrating great conviction in all aspects of her life. Dana’s faith was a constant, she was exhaustively well read including dedicated study of the Bible and its teachings.

She was buried in Floydada, TX where husband’s family resides. A local celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 26th from 11 AM to 1 PM at DCPC Congregation House, 218 Concord Road, Davidson, NC 28036.
