Daniel James Holcomb's Obituary
Daniel James Holcomb 76 of Charlotte NC passed away February 25, 2023, at Presbyterian Medical Center. He was born on July 14, 1946, in Warren PA, a son of the late Harold and Margaret Colbert Holcomb. He married Deborah R. Shrout on June 26, 1971, at St John’s church in Tidioute PA.
Daniel was an avid sports fan, and he collected and sold sports memorabilia. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had an interest in American History and enjoyed traveling to National Military Parks, with Gettysburg National Military Park being his favorite.
Daniel was a graduate of Youngsville High School, class of 1964. He attended Edinboro State College. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, with a tour of duty in Vietnam, serving from 1967 to 1971.
Daniel was employed at Talon in Meadville PA from 1971 to 1981, and Coate’s North American in Charlotte from 1981 until his retirement in 2008.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Louise Miller. He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Charlotte; two daughters, Shelly Davis, and Stacey (William) Hatcher of Charlotte; son, Mark Holcomb of Concord CA; five grandchildren, Madeline Davis, Jessica Davis, Caleb Luckadoo, Alex Hatcher, and Noah Hatcher all of Charlotte; two brothers, Thomas (Sally) Holcomb of Beach Island SC, and Edward (Linda) Holcomb of Titusville PA; and six nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at James Funeral Home in Huntersville. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 11:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont, NC.
