Darnell Beam's Obituary
Darnell Beam, 65 of Mooresville died November 15th, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House.
Survivors include her mother, Betty Martin Brown; husband, Rodney Beam; son, Brian Beam and wife Sunny Beam of Charlotte; daughter, Kristie Beam Long of Eugene, OR; siblings, Cathy Blackwelder, Rhonda Meadows, Patty Lawing and Lonnie Corriher; and grandchildren, Madeline, Ashton, Paul, Noah and Olivia. Preceded in death by father, Lonnie Brown.
Through her passion for cooking, she expressed her love of family and friends by nurturing them with the beautiful food she skillfully prepared. She was ever dedicated to the needs of others. She spread beauty in the world around her through her thoughtful and masterful hand crafted creations. She was never afraid to stand up for what she believed. She gave back to her community through volunteerism with the Red Cross, the school system and various other organizations.
In the spirit of keeping the hand crafts alive for future generations, the family would like memorial donations sent to the Palmetto Pleaters, a Chapter of the Smocking Arts Guild of America for their Wee Care service project which is used for babies that don't make it home from the hospital. Alternately, donations can be sent to the Gordon Hospice House who cared so compassionately for her and the family during her last days. Instead of flowers, the family requests that those interested consider making a charitable donation to one of 2 organizations: Palmetto Pleaters, 193 Chandelle Ridge Dr. Woodruff, SC 29388 or Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd. Statesville NC 28625.
We will honor Darnell at a memorial dinner Sunday, November 18 at 5:00 PM at Shearer Presbyterian Church, 684 Presbyterian Road Mooresville, NC 28115. Following in Darnell's dedication to caring for and feeding others, please feel free to bring a covered dish to share. Beloved cousins, Darrin Martin and Gina Compton and Hwy 801 will carry out her wishes by playing music during this celebration of her life. We look forward to sharing your special personal memories of her.
