I John A Owens was friends with David in High School he was always a wonderful friend he was the kind of friend if you needed anything he would give you the shirt off his back. I am just finding out in 2025 that he had pasted away in 2017. Hope he is resting in peace.

Dear Brenda David Jr and family. I am Linda Gail Corrin. Born in Hampton, Virginia Jan 20 1955. My sincere condolences and prayers for you.
Your Mother knew my father from college in Atlanta, Georgia. Malcolm LeRoy Corrin married Virginia Frances Brown Irvine in Dec 1950. Daddy was a Que. Mommy was a Delta and a professional Reference Librarian. My parents literally picked ret staff sergeant Leroy Metz Jr for me the year I retired.
I worked in Fort Wayne at WFFT-TV as Linda Kaye, news anchor and public affairs talk show host.
I graduated from Indiana, Graduate School of Business (Kelley BSchool) in 1982
Determined to go into Television. I was blessed with the guidance of Roland Johnson, PhD and chair of the Telecom Department. By the fall of 1981, I had a job at WTIU-TV as schedule director. I was volunteering as a student news writer and announcer for WIUS-AM. In May of 1982, the university had an awards ceremony and honored me with an award for being the best stubborn news writer and announcer.
In the fall of 1982, my dear friend and classmate, Robert L. Bell, Sr and his wife Grace (now deceased 2022) let me stay with them. All by the grace of God. I was soon hired at WFFT-TV. The most fun job of my life. But then it was time to come home. David and I dated for all of six weeks during my final days in Fort Wayne
He met you right after I left. I'm very sensitive to marriage and family. When Dave approached me in 1983, I knew that I was not interested. I waited a year and then we went to dinner.
My mother died tragically Dec 21 1965 in Flint. She suffered from manic depression but I didn't know it until years after my 50th or so birthday
I just read this obituary Just now. I'm so happy that you two met. My mother's death so badly traumatized me that I could not marry anyone.
Both my parents came to me in a sort of Dream and says "Leroy Metz Jr is the only one and then best one for You"
God is awesome. My dad called me one night. It was in 1986 or 88.
I spoke with your mother. Ask her about our conversation. She wanted me to meet you back then. I only returned to the Fort once back then to Receive an NASCP award. I've been back about 3 times since then. God bless you and your family
I'm very happy for David. Once l had a problem with a stranger in the Fort Wayne Public Library. It was in Aug of 1984. I knew I was moving back to East Orange. He told me what to do. God has blessed me and guided my path all my life. 2014078903

Please accept our condolences for your loss.
To know that someone we love and cherish has fallen asleep and we can't see and talk to them as we did before, brings such sadness.
Our Heavenly Father promises us that soon, we will have the opportunity to welcome them back from their sleep-like state (Daniel 12:2 A). They will be restored to life again. John 5:28, 29 has a profound affect on those that read and meditate on it. When Jesus tells them to come out of their memorial tombs, what a joyous occasion that will be for us all.
Continue to trust in all that God promises. Remember the laughs and good times that you had with Mr. Coleman, all that he stood for and how he loved and cared for you all. There will be many rough days, but let the memories carry your through.

I enjoyed working with Mr. Coleman at UNC Charlotte. His dedication to the department and his profession will be missed. My sincerest condolences to the Coleman family on your loss.
I will always remember David for his honesty, dependability, calmness, steadfastness, resiliency and feel very fortunate to have known him. He confided in me to arrange his first date with Brenda that led to their marriage and the rest is history. I am deeply grieved and bewildered by his unexpected death. Brenda please know that our thoughts/love/heartfelt sympathy are with you at this very difficult time. You and the family are very much in our thoughts and prayers.
