David Cox's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce, David Michael Cox, of Huntersville, NC, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026 at home after a long illness with his loving and caring wife by his side.
Born July 8, 1955 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Nancy McAteer Cox and Ulys Cox, David cherished the values of his growing up and shaped his immediate family the same. He instilled faith, love, hard work, and respect from his heart. He was known for his gentle spirit and generous nature.
David not only loved his family, but enjoyed fishing at Oak Island, NC, music of all genres, traveling, friends and making memories. He was a jokester and had a great sense of humor.
Lovingly survived by his wife, Judy Frazier Cox whom he was married to for 48 years; daughters, Amanda Wells (Daniel) and Lori Cochran (Brian); granddaughters, Brooke and Raelyn Oheler, Norah Wells, and Elizabeth Cochran; sister, Sharon Shaw (John); brother, Steve McAteer (Margaret); mother-in-law, Mary Ladd Frazier.
A memorial service will be held at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 2pm. A gathering of family and friends will precede the service from 1:00pm – 2:00pm at the funeral home.
A special thank you to Cindy and Barry Knott and James “Buddy” Frazier for all the love and support they gave through out David’s illness.
