David Gary Bullock

David Gary Bullock, 76, of Davidson, NC, passed away Thursday, May 5 in Front Royal, Virginia. He was born December 16, 1934 in Trenton, NJ to the late Samuel Edward and Mildred Harriet Bullock. His childhood was spent in Flemington, NJ, until shortly after his marriage when he and his wife made their family home in Neshanic Station, NJ, until 1983 when he retired to Davidson, NC. His last day ended quickly but was spent with his wife of nearly 55 years, doing some of what he enjoyed most, which was driving his converted Greyhound bus to an annual antique automobile show for Hudson cars that he loved so much.
He is survived by his wife, Minerva Hoffman Bullock and their four children: a daughter, Karen of Davidson, NC; a son, Peter of Statesville, NC and wife Allison; a son, Richard of Neshanic Station, NJ and wife Joann; a son Gary of Anchorage, AK and wife MaryAnn. Four grandchildren: Stephanie and Molly of NJ and David and Thomas of NC. He is preceded in death by his sister, Laura Lou Snyder Fraunfelker and brother Alan Bruce Bullock.
David and Minerva were married on August 4, 1956 in Flemington, NJ. He worked for the NJ Department of Transportation for 31 years, where he was a principal bridge inspector. David joined the Neshanic Volunteer Fire Department in 1958. He was a Life member and served as President between 1961-62 and Chief from 1968-70. He was a member and former Director of the National Hudson, Essex & Terraplane Club since 1961 as well as The Dogwood Chapter. David was a 55 year member and Past Master of Darcy Lodge #37 in NJ, Past Grand Chaplain of NJ and a dual member of Williams Lodge #176 in NC. He was a 31 year member of OES and officer of Mecklenburg #90 OES, Cornelius and Past Patron of Darcy Chapter #138 Flemington, NJ. He was a longtime member of the Converted Coach chapter, FMCA, Dixie Travelers, and Southeast Bus Nuts, and belonged to Mount Zion Methodist Church in Cornelius.
A Masonic graveside service will be held at 2:00 Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Mimosa Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 Saturday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Bailey officiating. The family will visit friends after the service at the church.
