Dear Sanford family,
We would like to extend our deepest condolences on the loss of Dave. We were shocked and incredibly saddened to hear of his passing. Dave was a pledge brother of mine and he and I shared a common bond of being devoted fans of the Royals and Chiefs amidst a far greater number of friends who were fans of the teams hailing from the other side of the state. He had a heart of gold, which he never thought twice about wearing on his sleeve regarding his allegiances as a fan, or as a friend and brother. He was admired widely among us for his kindness, loyalty and decency and I am thankful that we were able to keep in touch after college.
We are praying that God's grace will comfort and sustain you through your grief.
Matt and Beth Franker
I fondly recall Dave's big grin/smile and his kindness and of course his love of the Royals.
My thoughts go out to the family. You will not be forgotten by your SigEp brothers Dave.

Dear Sanford family,
I was a year behind Dave as a Sig Ep at Truman. Dave always treated me - and everyone else - with the utmost respect and kindness. He was rightfully known as a class act, and we are all very saddened to hear of his passing. God bless your family and may Dave rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Sanford family,
I echo Todd's sentiments and experiences with Dave. The act of pledging together bonded us then and continued to do so even as we all left school, moved for jobs, etc... And am thankful for the interactions and conversations we were able to have through social media. Dave will be missed and our thoughts and prayers are with you now and going forward.

To the Sanford family: I was so incredibly stunned and saddened to hear of the passing of Dave. We met as Freshmen at Truman in August 1997 as fraternity pledge brothers and although we hadn't seen each other nor spoken to one another in quite some time after school, we shared the common passions of baseball and Mizzou sports and I am thankful that we were able to stay connected via email and social media. I was in awe of his insight, analysis and perspective of the Kansas City Royals and their minor league system and always loved reading his work when he would share it. You could not mistake his love for the Royals and I can only imagine how excited he was getting for the upcoming season.
The Dave Sanford I will always remember was a loyal friend with a great sense of humor. He was very intelligent, thoughtful and humble. The world lost a great one, far too young. May God's grace comfort you in this time of sorrow and may Dave rest in eternal peace.
