David Roy Hewett's Obituary
David R. Hewett, 73, of Beaufort, passed away at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport, NC.
David proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Coast Guard, retiring with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following his distinguished military career, he worked for the Hearst Corporation in their Magazine Division in Charlotte, NC. In his leisure time, David found joy in fishing and cherished moments spent with his family. In his later years, he developed a passion for gardening, particularly growing sunflowers that brought beauty to his surroundings. He also took great pleasure in feeding the birds and squirrels, finding peace and connection in nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Joyce Hewett. He is survived by his wife, Carol Hewett of Beaufort; daughter, Amy Felty and husband, Quentin of Sunrise, FL; son, David Hewett and husband, Brian of Los Angeles, CA; grandson, Elliott Felty of Sunrise, FL; brother, Walter Hewett and wife, Kay of Wilmington.
A memorial service celebrating David’s life will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 10500 Beatties Ford Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078 at 11:00 AM, followed by inurnment at Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery, then followed by a reception at the Family Life Center.
