David Lee Martin's Obituary
David Lee Martin Sr., 84, of Huntersville died May 16th, 2015 at his home after a long courageous battle with Myelodysplasia. He was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 3, 1930 to Shellie Lee Martin and Dicie Bivens Martin.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He retired after 40 years with National Welders Supply Company as a technician. He was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder, Sunday School Superintendent and President of Mary Garmon Sunday School Class for many years. He was an active member of the VFW in Cornelius.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife Billie D. Martin of the home; a son David L. Martin Jr. and his wife Mary Frances of Tuxedo, N.C.; a daughter Melissa Care and her husband Randy of Mt. Holly, N.C.; siblings Mary Alice Cook of Texas and Gary Martin and wife Susie of Lincolnton; sister-in-laws Shirley Martin of Apex, N.C., Carolyn Ann Martin of Lincolnton and Janice Martin of Lancaster, S.C.; brother-in law Bobby Wise of Lincolnton as well as four grandchildren Laura and Beau Martin and Travis and Austin Care.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Dedel Martin, Grady Martin and Tommy Martin as well as his sister Emma Sue Wise.
A celebration of life to honor David will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 10500 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center immediately following the service. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Presbyterian Church of Huntersville.
