David Smith's Obituary
Dave C. Smith, 69, of Huntersville, NC passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022. Previously, Dave lived in Novi, MI and moved a few months ago to NC to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Dave worked in logistics and inventory control at Sorbus/Bell Atlantic. Previous to that career, he was the manager of the Cricket Box, a store that sold fine china and gifts. Dave was a collector. He particularly enjoyed collecting light houses, Department 56 village pieces, Nascar and Indy 500 cars. He enjoyed going all out decorating the house for Halloween and Christmas and loved to be outside working around the yard in the summer.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jean Smith; and his sister, Elizabeth Henkels.
Dave is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sylvia Smith (formerly Jackson); their children, Derek Smith (Christine) of Huntersville, NC and Chad Smith (Lauren) of Cornelius, NC; grandchildren, Jacob and Callie; mother-in-law, Anna-Monika Jackson; sister-in-law, Christine Radze (Vytas); brother-in-law, John Henkels IV; nieces, Laurie Fuller (Mike) and Joanne Muehlich (Toby); nephews, John Henkels V (Kristin) and Charles Henkels (Holly); and many cousins, especially Mary Jane Jolly and Hollijean Jolly.
A memorial service will take place on June 7, 2023, 2:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet, Michigan. Interment will be at Lake View Cemetery in Calumet, Michigan.
