David Vaseleniuck's Obituary
David Nicholas Vaseleniuck, 69, of Cornelius, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018.
Dave was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and lived and worked in the Charlotte area for the past 22 years. He is survived by his loving wife Susan Springhorn Vaseleniuck of 24 years; his brothers George Vaseleniuck and wife Betty, Ivan Vaseleniuck and wife Phyllis, Victor Vaseleniuck and partner Sharon; his loving mother Mary (Tonita) Vaseleniuck, 106, in Windsor, ON; his children Virginia Vaseleniuck Blake of Windsor, ON, Darrick Nicholas Vaseleniuck and wife Dawn Vaseleniuck of Mooresville, NC, and, Susan Vaseleniuck Piazza and husband Giuseppe (Joe) Piazza of Grass Lake, MI; and grandchildren Brandi, Nick, Kathryn, Andrew, Alec, Austin, David, and Christine; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and so many friends who were considered family.
Dave's sense of humor and fun spirit allowed him to live life to its fullest, he loved family and friends fiercely, and achieved countless success over his 50 year-career in racing, with over 200 wins and 43 championships. His legacy in racing began first with Diamond Racing Engines, then years in NASCAR with Bobby and Donnie Allison, followed by legions of well-known drivers across multiple racing series. David and his son Darrick founded VazTec, LLC and designed and patented a revolutionary new engine that is proving successful as they near the finish line. Darrick, their employees, and backers will carry Dave's legacy forward to complete the race.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at James Funeral Home of Huntersville, NC. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21 at Davidson United Methodist Church, Davidson, NC with a reception to follow.
Memorial donations may be made to Novant Health Hospice of Charlotte, NC or Davidson United Methodist Church.
