Deborah Morrow Draughn's Obituary
Deborah "Debbie" Anne Morrow Draughn, 63, of Mocksville, NC passed away on March 20, 2023 at Willow Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Winston-Salem, NC after several years of declining health. The family is comforted that she is pain free and with the Lord and loved ones that passed on before her.
She was born on August 11, 1959 in Mecklenburg County, NC and was the daughter of the late Daniel Edward “Buddy” Morrow and Jo Ann Brown Morrow. She lived in Huntersville till 1998 when she married her husband Ricky and moved to Mocksville. She was a 1977 graduate of North Mecklenburg High School and a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius. After high school she worked for E.J. Smith Turf & Lawn Equipment and then worked for Freightliner in Mt. Holly for 20 years. She was a big Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed going to NASCAR races in the 1980's and 1990's, following her father who was a NASCAR official. She loved family trips to the beach and weekend getaway trips to the mountains, especially day trips to Wood Brothers Racing where she and Bernice Wood would spend time discussing recipes and cooking. Debbie loved her family, friends, children and her dogs. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard “Ricky” Morrow and stepson, Patrick Martin Draughn.
Survivors include her husband, Ricky L. Draughn; stepson Jacob Charles Draughn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gene and Patricia Draughn; special cousin Vicki Davis and husband Jim and their family; She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at the funeral home.
