Debra Handy's Obituary
Debra Hammack Handy, 67, of Huntersville passed away February 12, 2024 at home. She was born on October 9, 1956 in Arkansas to the late Virgil and Alice Hammack. Her final days were spent surrounded by loving family and friends that she touched during her very memorable life.
Debby was a 1974 graduate of Butler High School in Huntsville, Alabama. She and her family moved to Huntersville in 1992 where she enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and scrapbooking. She loved spending time with her six grandchildren, especially in the mountains and the beach. Debby loved holiday decor and made sure to have a Christmas tree in every room of the house. She had a passion for meteorology and was the first to let everyone know if severe weather was in the area. She was involved and gave generously of her time and talent to numerous charity organizations in the community including Quilts of Valor, the Humane Society, and Angels and Sparrows.
Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years Robert Handy, their children; Heather Kundla (Shannon), Amber Mays (Brian), Kelli Hines (Nathan), grandchildren; Tyler, Kara, Karsyn, Mason, Blake, and Greyson; sisters Sherry James (Mark) and Terra Cargile, and many loving extended family and friends.
