Debra Smith's Obituary
Debbie Smith, 66, of Huntersville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 16, 2021 after a nine-year courageous battle fighting cancer.
Debbie is preceded in death by her Mother, Betty A. Baker of Charlotte and 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Billy Neal Smith; and their children: Raleigh Blayton (Junior) of Dallas N.C. and his wife Kim, Debra Elder (Sissy) of Iron Station N.C., Jacob Smith and his wife Trisha of Charlotte; and 7 grandchildren: Raleigh III, Nikki, Austin, Collin, Katelyn, Bailey, and Leah; sister Shirley Morris of Huntersville, and sister Susie Starrette of Salisbury; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Debbie was a charter member of Lakehaven Baptist Church. There she loved helping in the church nursery. She was a woman of great faith, and her favorite saying was, God is good all the time. She was a dedicated manager at Dillard’s Distribution Center for 35 years and received numerous awards and presentations during her career recognizing her hard work. She received the employee of the year award for two consecutive years. She considered her friends at Dillard's as her second family. Debbie loved taking trips with her husband Billy to the mountains, to the beach and even to the Caribbean. She also enjoyed her crossword puzzles, word search and WWE wrestling.
The family will receive friends during a visitation at 12:00pm until 1:00pm Saturday, June 19th at the funeral home. The celebration of life will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home as well. Internment will be at Northlake Memorial Gardens in Huntersville.
