Dominic Richard Spain's Obituary
Dominic Richard Spain (Dom) of Cornelius, NC, succumbed on February 15, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on June 21, 1937, in Warren, OH, the oldest son of Edith and Tony Spain (Spagnuolo), who preceded him in death.
Dominic was active in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1962. He later received his BS and MBA in Management from Youngstown State University (OH). Dominic worked at the Packard Electric Division of General Motors in Warren, OH, and retired in 1997 from the General Electric Company after 27 years in the Glass and Lighting Divisions at Nela Park Lighting Headquarters, in Cleveland Hts. (OH). Dominic was a member of the American Society for Quality Control and was certified by the Society as a Professional Quality Engineer. Mr. Spain’s extensive knowledge of lamp manufacturing processes and quality control expertise found him in many domestic GE Lighting & Glass Division plants as well as overseas, in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, England, Germany, and Hungary.
In 1997 Dominic and his loving wife of 54 years, Janet (Cooley), who survives him, moved to Huntersville, and then Cornelius, NC. Dominic is also survived by two sons, Joe Spain (Kim Villena) of Lewis Center, OH; Steve Spain (Sarah) of Delaware, OH; and three grandchildren, Dominic, Olivia and Anna. Also surviving are two brothers, Anthony (Sonny) Spain of Sarasota, FL and John Spain, (Sheryl) of Venice, FL, four nieces, two nephews, two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be at 2PM Saturday, March 2 at James Funeral Home LKN, 10520 Arahova Dr. in Huntersville. A reception will follow in the James Funeral Home Community Room.
