Don Sims' Obituary
Don Sherrill Sims, 82, of Cornelius passed away peacefully October 19, 2013 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House. He was born on March 6, 1931 in Cornelius to the late Jess and Carrie Sherrill Sims. Don served in the US Army and was a Mason. He worked for 53 years at Ruth’s Salads in Charlotte. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all. Don never met a stranger, loved golfing, fishing and spending time with his family, which was his top priority.
Survivors include his wife Dixie; sons, Stephen (Kandy) of Charlotte, Timothy (Michelle) of Newton, Bobby of Charlotte; daughters, Donna Rogers (Troy) of Troutman and Angela Thornton (Tracey) of Monroe; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was the last of his 8 siblings.
Memorials may be made to the Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Dr. Huntersville, NC 28078.
A funeral service will be held at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville with Rev. Rick Felts officiating at 2:00 Tuesday, October 22. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West.
