Donald Lee Burkert Sr.'s Obituary
Donald Lee Burkert, Sr. 87 of Charlotte died December 18, 2024. He was born on March 23, 1937 in Watseka, IL to the late John and Stella Burkert.
Donald served in the US Air Force before marrying the love of his life, Joan. He attended Tennessee Temple University with the intent to teach elementary school. However, God had other plans! He returned to his home church in Danville, Illinois to serve as school administrator and earned his masters in administration from Eastern Illinois University. He also served at Bethesda Christian School in Brownsburg, Indiana and Medinah Christian School in Medinah, Illinois. He had a passion for teaching and was loved and respected by students and faculty.
Survivors include his wife Joan; sons, Donald Lee Burkert, Jr. (Marcia) and John Burkert (Anna); daughters, Lori Hayden (John) and Michelle Barga (Jeff); 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren (with one on the way!).

The graveside service will be held Saturday, December 21 at Northlake Memorial Gardens at 11 AM.
