Donald Dale Groscost's Obituary
Donald Dale Groscost, 88, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021. He was born on July 29, 1932, in Pennsylvania, to the late Donald and Josephine Groscost.
Upon graduating Lincoln Highschool in Midland PA, Dale joined the Air Force and served for four years. While raising children and working full time, he graduated from Geneva College with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He was an avid reader and passed on his love for books to his entire family. He also enjoyed the art of a good debate.
Dale was passionate about aviation, duct tape, plaid, pranking his family members, and of course, keeping his 1965 tractor in mint condition (the best investment he ever made). Everyone who knew him knew how much he loved animals and nature. In addition to his hobbies, he was endlessly proud of his wife and her cooking, and made sure to tell everyone how much work she put into the Christmas dinner and cookies every year.
In addition to his parents, Dale was predeceased by three of his brothers, Bradley Groscost, Keith Groscost, and Kenneth Groscost.
Dale is survived by his wife, Alia Groscost; children, Karen Cairns, Karla Wolfe (Tim), and Don Groscost (Nancy); grandchildren, Taylor Stiles (Billy) Lexie Wolfe, Bradley Wolfe and Katya Groscost; great-grandchildren, Parker, Abby, and Hudson Stiles; and his brother, Arthur Groscost (Sheila).
The memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 29, 11:00 AM at James Funeral Home. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM. There also will be a catered reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children's Homes of Cleveland County (chccinc.org), as adoption and the care and well-being of children were very close to his heart.
James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
