Donald Penninger's Obituary
Donald Eugene Penninger, 82, of Charlotte, passed away on December 26, 2015. He was born on March 27, 1933 in the Croft Community to the late Joe Everette Penninger, Sr. and Martha Barnette Penninger.
Don owned and operated Penninger’s Garage in the Croft Community, where he was a master mechanic, N.C.D.M.V. Safety Inspector and N.C. Wildlife License Agent prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Mary; daughter, Dottie Johnson and husband Mike; son Donald Eugene Penninger, Jr.; 2 grandsons, one great-grandson, two step-sons, Ray Barrows and wife Cathy, David Barrows and wife Tammy and one sister-in-law, Sarah Penninger; 5 step-grandchildren and sister Barbara P. Bell of Salem, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth P. Davis, Cordelia (Peggy) Youngblood and Mary P. Holton and brothers Joe Everette Penninger, Jr. and Robert Miller Penninger.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, December 30 at Independence Hill Baptist Church (Chapel) with visitation 10-11 prior in the chapel. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Todd Marlin will officiate the service.
Memorials may be made to the Independence Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
