Donald Van Dyk's Obituary
Donald Van Dyk, 88, of Charlotte, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was born on November 18, 1932, in New Jersey, to Martin and Jenny Van Dyk.
Don was committed to Christ, and to his family. He faithfully attended his church here in Charlotte and was active in the Men of Steel group. He was also a part of the local men’s Promise Keepers. He was very loved by everyone who knew him. He had a helping spirit, and would go out of his way to offer a helping hand to family or neighbor alike. He was a great storyteller, and had a great sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face and time for a leisurely conversation. The family loved to hear him tell stories of the old days. He was a great dad and grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.
Don was predeceased by his wife, Joan Van Dyk; daughter, Diane Jarriel; and brothers, Bill Van Dyk, Howard Van Dyk, and John Van Der Hook.
Don is survived by his sister, Barbara Graves, his son, Daniel Van Dyk; daughters, Donna Watts (Steve), Darlene Moore (James), and Darcy Thiel (David); 12 grandchildren, and10 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 14, 11:00 AM at Steele Creek Church in Charlotte, NC with the interment to follow at Crown Memorial Park in Pineville, NC. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM.
