Donna Thomas' Obituary
Donna Marie Thomas (née Livesey)
May 29, 1946 – September 6, 2024
Donna Marie Thomas, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, in Denver, North Carolina, at the age of 78. Born on May 29, 1946, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Donna grew up on her family's farm nestled by Tamarack Lake, where she developed a love for the outdoors and a strong work ethic.
The daughter of Betty and Lawrence Livesey, and sister to Caroline Holman (née Livesey), all of whom preceded her in death, Donna cherished her family deeply.
A graduate of Meadville High School, Donna pursued her passion for education by earning a bachelor's degree in education from West Liberty State College. She dedicated many years to shaping young minds as a grade school teacher before transitioning to substitute teaching while raising her children. Later in her career, she returned to full-time teaching as a hospital tutor at St. Claris Hospital, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of her students. After retiring, Donna continued her dedication to helping others by volunteering in the hospital's gift shop.
In 2017, Donna and her husband, Dave Thomas, relocated to North Carolina to be closer to their family. Donna married Dave on June 26, 1971, and they spent 53 wonderful years together, filled with love, laughter, and shared memories.
Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Dave, her two sons, Ryan (along with his children, Jacob and Oliver) and Jason (and his wife, Celia). She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A private family service will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Neurological Association (ANA), in honor of Donna's lifelong commitment to education and community service.
