Donnalee Kies' Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom, and Oma, DonnaLee Sieglinde Roberta Klein Kies, who departed this life on May 13, 2025 at the age of 90.
Born on December 16, 1934 in Buffalo, NY, Linde lived a full life marked by kindness, patience, compassion, selflessness and love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her sweet and loving disposition brought joy to all who knew her. She truly was one of a kind! In recent years, she was the matriarch of our family, and was known as “Oma” to everyone who knew her.
On April 13, 1958, Linde married the love of her life, Ewald Kies. She was not only his wife and friend in life, but a true supporter and helpmate to him throughout his ministry as a servant of God in the New Apostolic Church. They built an amazing legacy together with their 3 children, 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Oma was a member of the New Apostolic Church, where over the years she dedicated much of her time playing the organ, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and volunteering to do whatever was needed by her congregation. She was an avid gardener, puzzle expert, back scratcher, and snuggler. She enjoyed cooking for her family and church family, always making sure everyone was comfortable and fed – a true sandwich master!
Above all, she was selfless and loving—always placing the needs of others before her own. She had a heart full of compassion and an extraordinary capacity to love. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing, encouraging, and cherishing each of them. Her legacy lives on in the love and lessons she shared with them.
She is survived by her husband, Ewald; Her children – John (Ahmed), Kristy (Daniel), and Monika (Howard); Her grandchildren – Mike (Laura), Renate, Philip (Shelby), Joshua (Sanela), Brian (Claire), and Ben (Shelby); Her great grandchildren – Logan, Lucas, Charlotte, Karolina, James Bodhi, Penelope, Carter, Connor, Eliza, and 1 more on the way; And many extended nieces and nephews around the globe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anna Klein; her sister and brother-in-law Edith and Paul Kies; Her son, Robert P. Kies; and her grandson, Daniel E. Neal.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at The New Apostolic Church in Charlotte, NC at 11AM. Friends and loved ones are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of our dear Omie.
She will be remembered always for her warmth, radiance, and the way she made everyone feel as if she was their Oma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The National MS Society in honor of Oma’s memory.
