Doris C. Nason's Obituary
Doris Cecile (Tondreault) Nason passed away peacefully Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Charlotte NC after a lengthy courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in 1931 in Central Falls, RI, she spent her childhood working on the family farm collecting and then delivering eggs to the local community. This hard work ethic drove her to graduate high school (from Norton, MA) while working full time. She was married to Malcolm W. Nason for over 6 decades. She loved being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, traveling, and serving her communities.
Doris often said that her most fervent wish was to be a mother, and she was a wonderful one. She was a tireless, fearless mother to her 4 children and many relatives and friends of her children.
Mrs. Nason worked for the Town of Hamilton, MA for many years and became a Member of the Conservation Commission, tying her love of outdoor spaces and preservation with community empowerment. She loved both the zesty salt-laden air of Cape Cod as well as the stark arid beauty of Arizona, where she and Mac split their time. She visited almost every state in the US, Mexico many times, and several countries in Europe. She is survived by her 4 children Donald, Valerie, Malcolm, and David, 7 grandchildren, 4 grand-dogs, and 17 grand-cats.
Her memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday 10/21 at the Trinitarian Congregational Church located at 2 Pine Street, Norton, MA 02766. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Norton Center Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, and in the memory of Doris, the family requests that a donation be made to the Appalachian Mountain Club, 10 City Square, Boston, MA 02129 or via their website. www.outd
