Doris Smith's Obituary
Doris Averee Smith, 92, of Charlotte died October 19, 2023.
She was born in Greenville, SC on January 23, 1931 to the late Robert Smith and Ruth Causby Smith.
Doris worked proudly for the US Government as a contract administrator where she achieved many accolades for her work. Her job involved locating to Atlanta, Charleston and Philadelphia. After retiring in the 80's she settled in Charlotte to be near her brother and his family. Doris loved watching Steph Curry play basketball for Golden State and Christian McCaffrey play for the Panthers.
Doris loved traveling and she cherished her friendship of 80 years with her best friend Jackie Salmonsen of Charleston SC and vacationing with her family.
Miss Smith was proceeded in death by her brother Flay Smith of Charlotte.
She is survived by her nephew Jason Smith of Charlotte, who thought of Doris as his second mother. He has lovingly seen to her needs and well-being for past few years.
Jason would like to thank all the hospice nurses that visited Doris and Hospice House of Huntersville.
Services will be private.
