Dorothy Lanier's Obituary
Dorothy Huffman Lanier, affectionately known as Dot-Dot, age 85, of the Oakdale Community in Charlotte died March 3, 2019. She was born on July 18, 1933 in Catawba County to the late Floyd and Ollie Huffman. Dot was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove U.M.C., owner of Lanier and Son Construction and worked as a realtor for Century 21.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Edwin Lanier and son, Randall Edwin Lanier.
Survivors include her daughters Cynthia Lanier of Charlotte and Janet Watson and husband Ed of Denver; sister Margaret Hill (Dean) of Hickory; 10 grandchildren, Brett Watson (Dana), Courtney Burke (Chris), Kyle Watson (Hayley), Seth Hager (Caroline), Candace Bailey (Brett), Evan Hager, Jenna Mobley (Shane), Jillian Lagan (James), Jacquelyn Edwards (Danny) and Juliet Watkins (Gregg), and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 9 at Pleasant Grove U.M.C. All are invited to a reception following in the Family Life Center of the church. Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte or Pleasant Grove U.M.C. Bereavement Fund.
