Dorothy Jean Jordan Puett's Obituary
Dorothy, 85 a resident of Huntersville passed away peaceably on September 27, 2023, at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill, North Carolina. She is now in heaven rejoicing with her Lord and Savior.
Mrs. Puett was born March 26th, in 1938 and she is the 2nd in a family of eight to the late John and Sadie Honeycutt Jordan in Mooresville, NC. She attended Iredell Schools, assisted her parents with the family farm until she married Robert (Bert) Puett in 1957.
Dorothy was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Huntersville, NC. She loved her church and was very active in serving in various capacities – assisting with meal preparation, working with the homeless ministry and a member of the intercession prayer chain. She was also a member of United Methodist Women providing various services in the church and community. She received the Honor of being the United Methodist Woman of the Year in 2012.
Dorothy was a social person and never met a stranger. She loved the outdoors and taking walks through her community visiting with her neighbors. She thought it was very important to know your neighbors so you could lend a hand when needed. She loved meeting people and made many friends during her walks. She also was very faithful in attending worship services, weddings, and funerals even if she had to walk to church when she did not have transportation. Nothing would stop her from being there for her church family.
She loved reading her bible, gardening, and her hats. Especially in the summer she did not like to leave the house without a hat. On occasion she would wear them to church. She had a sorted selection, and they gave her a lot of joy.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Catherine and son in law Ken Erwin of Charlotte; sons John Puett of Indian Trail; David and wife, Leslie Puett of Iron Station; grandchild Kenneth Erwin III of Charlotte; sisters Betty Waugh and Judy Jordan of Mooresville, sister in laws Janet Jordan of Charlotte and Nancy Jordan of Mooresville.
