Doru Constantin Stefanescu's Obituary
Doru Constantin Stefanescu, 62, of Charlotte passed away November 21, 2018. He was born on February 3, 1956 in Ploiesti, Romania to the late Alexandru Stefanescu, chief of accounting at the mine in Filipestii de Padure, Romania and decorated World War II veteran, and Maria Stefanescu, elementary school teacher in Ditesti, Romania. Doru was an honorary citizen of Filipestii de Padure, Romania.
Survivors include his wife Valeria Stefanescu; son, Vlad Alexandru Stefanescu and wife Tiffany Lynne Stefanescu of Charlotte; daughter, Andreea Corina Dumitru and husband Andrei Marius Dumitru of Charlotte; sister, Madga Tanase; and grandchildren, Emilia Cassia Dumitru and Sofia Charlotte Stefanescu.
Doru will be sorely missed by family and friends. Nothing will replace his fun loving, selfless personality which filled all of our hearts with joy and love. He was a father to his children, but he was a father figure to so many more. He always put others ahead of himself and went out of his way countless times to help them. He cared deeply about the Romanian community in the Charlotte region and worked tirelessly to gather everyone and celebrate traditions from his homeland.
We love you and miss you so much. Your light will continue to shine in all of us.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home, Huntersville from 5 to 7 PM Saturday, November 24. (10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville)
The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 25 at 1 PM at Saint John the Baptizer Romanian Orthodox Church (8228 Park Edwards Road, Kannapolis) with burial following at Northlake Memorial Gardens. (11001 Alexandriana Rd. Huntersville)
Afterwards we will gather at the Wedgewood North Clubhouse (8925 Babbitt Way, Charlotte, NC 28216) to honor Doru by gathering together.
Memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Saint John the Baptizer Romanian Orthodox Church.
