Doug was a very gifted person - a truly brilliant mind. His carpentry skills were unlike any I have seen; attention to detail unheard of. Had that been marketable his life would have been very different. His mastery of woodworking tools would rival Sam Malouf, who was among his greatest & most respected role models. Doug loved his family intensely & always wanted to help his friends along the path he traveled. I have some things he made for me that remind me of the level of thinking we are all capable of. Doug could have done anything a genius could do, but he lived life for the enjoyment of every day. His genius was poured into the day to day tasks he did to help ordinary people and perhaps ordinary businesses. Everyone wanted to see him succeed in our working world, but Doug succeeded with every conversation, joke, movie quote, rock lyric, adirondack chair he built, shelf he repaired, or meal he cooked. He knew how to live well, but did it with whoever he was with & wherever he was. Doug is missed by many friends & strangers he met who wonder where he is along his path. I hope his path continued where we may meet again one day. God bless you Doug!
