Douglas Fredric Miller's Obituary
Douglas Fredric Miller, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Born on June 25, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Doug lived a life marked by unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and a boundless capacity for kindness. He is survived by his sister, Jeanine Maly and brother, Terry Miller. He was the beloved husband of Martha Miller and a devoted father to Stephanie Turturro, Kyle Miller, Jorge Bernal, Danielle Danneman, and Natalia League. He was the proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and was made "great" by one great granddaughter.
Doug’s warmth and energy were matched only by his steadfast commitment to serving others. A man of profound faith, he dedicated much of his life to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where he led the Stephen Ministry—a compassionate outreach that offers support and encouragement to those navigating difficult times. His leadership in this ministry reflected his belief that no one should walk through hardship alone.
To Doug, there truly were no strangers—only friends he hadn’t yet met. His welcoming spirit touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He found joy in simple pleasures: cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers and spending time at the bowling alley. Whether celebrating a strike or a touchdown, Doug’s enthusiasm was infectious and brought people together.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elinor Miller, and his brother-in-law Edward Maly. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the community he served with such devotion.
A viewing will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 7 at 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM (19600 Zion Ave. Cornelius, NC). Anyone who wishes to share a few words in Doug's memory will be given the opportunity to do so at the service.
