Edward "Tommy" Allred's Obituary
Edward Thomas Allred (“Tommy”), 69, of Charlotte passed away Sunday May 21, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Huntersville.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 in the chapel of James Funeral Home Huntersville, N.C. Visitation will follow.
His passing was preceded by his father, Robert L. Allred Sr.; mother, Betty Allred Wilson; brother, Robert L. Allred Jr.; brother, James M. Allred; and sister, Gayle Gunter.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sondra A. Allred; daughter, Karen Allred; son, Scott Allred; grandson, Colby Allred (Papaw’s little buddy); and brother, William B. Allred.
Tommy was born January 18, 1948 in New Port News, VA. He was an Army veteran and served his country during the Vietnam era. Tommy’s career in the textile industry spanned over 40 years.
During his life, Tommy enjoyed fishing, golfing, beach trips with family and friends and cruising on his golf cart with his beloved dog, Gracie. His greatest passion was cheering on his favorite team, the UNC Tarheels.
The family would like to thank each and every doctor, nurse, hospice care worker and staff for their kind, gentle and diligent care for Tommy.
