Dr. Edwin Bell was a friend and a mentor who willingly blessed me and others with great leadership, expertise, and unparallel kindness. He led by example and was always on the side of fairness, equity, inclusion, and social justice. I wouldn't be where and what I am today without Dr Bell's remarkable wisdom and guidance. He positively influenced numerous faculty, staff, and students throughout the Piedmont Triad and the larger society. It was through his guidance that I and other faculty members at Winston Salem State University received and implemented federal and state grants that provided professional development for teachers in high-need schools in the area. Ed Bell will be missed. May his soul rest in peace.

Many of the professional choices I have made are a result of the sage advice that Dr. Bell blessed me with. He was an empowering mentor, an admirable colleague, and a true soldier for justice. This world is better because he lived.
My heart breaks at such a loss to all who loved and adored Ed as well as all who never had the honor of his presence in their life or even more so being loved by him.
