Edwin Puckett's Obituary
Edwin R. Puckett, 93, of Charlotte, NC, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Born in Charlotte, NC on October 18, 1924. He was the son of the late Virginia and William Puckett. He is also predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Lois P. Puckett brothers, William Franklin (Doris), Clifton Puckett (Laddie), sisters, Ruby P. Webb (Myron), Francis P. Faust (Don) and Doris P. Davis (Howard).
Survivors include daughters, Carol P. Cribb and Brenda Puckett and son, Edwin M. (Mike) Puckett (Marsha), grandchildren, Scott Puckett (Robin), Robert Puckett, (Wendy), William Cribb, (Kim), Jennifer Curry, Zac Deal and special friend, Eva Edwards, 7 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was a carpenter and meat cutter by trade. He spent 31 years with A&P Tea Co., retiring as supervisor. He spent 20 years building houses, replacing windows, decks and other carpenter related things. He served briefly in US Army. He was a 50 year member of Long Creek Masonic Lodge # 205 where he was master in 1976. He was a 60 year member of the St. James Male Chorus and Trinity United Methodist Church choir. Ed loved his church, lodge and male chorus and did many things over the years to support all of them and the community.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Long Creek Masonic Lodge and members of St. James Male Chorus.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 10, at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Howard and Rev. Wade Ogle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary.
