Eileen Louise Connolly's Obituary
Eileen Louise Connolly, 77, formerly of Greenbelt, MD, died in Charlotte, NC, April 29, 2026, of complications following a serious illness.
Eileen was born in Tacoma Park, MD, and grew up in Silver Spring, where she graduated from St. John’s Evangelist Catholic School and Northwood High School. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1970, with a BA in drama.
She was a career employee of the State Department in Washington DC, planning itineraries for foreign visitors and accompanying them about the nation’s capital.
Eileen moved to Greenbelt, MD, 18 Court Ridge Rd, in the mid-1970’s and throughly enjoyed immersing herself in that historic community. She was a lover of history—making an intensive study of her family genealogy—and acquired a large collection of antique silver, kept as an heirloom for a future relation along with the family Bible and a letter written during the Civil War.
Relocating to Charlotte, NC, in 2021 to be close to family, Eileen enjoyed being part of an assisted living community where she was a favorite among staff and residents for her cheerful outlook, ready humor, and interest in others’ lives.
Eileen is survived by her brother, Michael Connolly (Jane), and her nieces Anne Malament (David), Margaret Kittrell (Will), nephew Michael (Elisabeth), and 10 great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held May 4, 3 p.m., at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville, NC, and Eileen will be buried in Silver Spring, MD, beside her parents.
