Eleanor Monteith's Obituary
Eleanor Bridgman Monteith, 84 of Charlotte died April 14, 2015 at Aldersgate -Asbury Care Center. She was born in Taichow, Kiangsu, China on October 10, 1930 to the late Rev. Harold and Eleanor Bridgman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur Leslie Bridgman, Harold Thomas Bridgman, Jr., John Francis Bridgman and Dr. Albert Henry Bridgman.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Glenn Monteith; and brothers, Stewart and David Bridgman.
Eleanor grew up in China where she was home schooled. She also attended Pyengyang Foreign School in what is now N. Korea and Shanghai American School in China. She graduated from Shaw High School in Sumter, SC. She attended Agnes Scott College and Belhaven College before graduating from Louisiana State University. She taught school in GA and SC. After moving to Charlotte she worked until her retirement for Brodt Music Company where she was in the choral music sales. She was a member of Covenant U.M.C. She sang in choir and represented her church well. She had no children but has many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 22 at Covenant U.M.C. with Rev. Dr. Fredrick Bowman officiating. Visitation will follow.
