Eleanor Marie Tompkins' Obituary
Eleanor Marie Hall Tompkins, age 90, of Huntersville died October 16, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born May 28, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Elveridge Hall and Margaret Kerns Hall. She was a descendent of Matthew McClure, signer of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. Eleanor graduated Huntersville HIgh School in 1951 where she was active in school publications, drama and other clubs. As part of the 1950 Intramural Basketball Championship team, Eleanor continued her love of sports throughout her life. Eleanor loved travel and set out on adventures as often as possible with her family. One of her favorite destinations was Las Vegas where she enjoyed "hitting it big". Employed at Huntersville Hospital for 22 years as Dietician Secretary, Eleanor would often have sole responsibility of the department, and provided support to individuals who were assigned to pay back to the community. Her guidance continues as a turning point in the lives of the people she touched.
At retirement, Eleanor would often spend her breakfast time with the staff at Showmars who became her extended family. Known to her family as Ellie, Grandma, and of course Mom, she lived a simple life. Within this simplicity with the people she loved, she built a family legacy of beauty and comfort.
Her Family Legacy includes: son Gary and Sheree Tompkins of Huntersville, daughter Robin and Jeff Seaford of Huntersville, daughter Pam and Shari McNally-Tompkins of Anaheim Hills, CA, grandchildren Matthew Tompkins and Katie Darcangelo of Huntersville, Shannon and Joshua All of Boiling Springs, SC, Jennifer and Bryan Humble of Winterville, NC, Lauren and Justin Jackson of Huntersville, Noel McNally-Tompkins and Dakota McNally-Tompkins of Anaheim Hills, CA, great grandchildren Parker Tompkins, Bennett Tompkins, Bailey All, Noah Jackson, Lily Jackson, Conner Humble and Oliver Humble.
The family would like to issue a special thanks to caregiver Brenda WynnJackson who loved and befriended mom as if she was her own. Additionally, our gratitude goes to mom’s Hospice team for their special care and devotion.
She will be with us always and we will always be with her." ~Noah
