Elizabeth Clement's Obituary
Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Clement, 92, of Huntersville NC transitioned to heaven Wednesday, April 17th, 2024. She was born on July 31, 1931, in Cleveland OH to the late Francis and Barbara Stastny.
Betty’s passion in life was helping others. She always brought a smile to everyone she met. She always thought of others, rarely herself.
As a homemaker, Betty provided a guiding hand over her kid’s scholastic and spiritual growth. Always a pitcher of Kool-Aid and cookies nearby while hosting the neighborhood kids in various activities.
Later in life when her son’s first wife, Lynne Marie (Jolokai) Clement, passed from cancer; Betty (and her husband Bob) relocated from Livonia, MI area to Cornelius, NC to provide that same guiding hand in assisting Steve in raising their three North Carolina grandchildren.
Examples of her thoughtfulness are endless, but the following are just a few that have made lasting impressions:
• Betty used to knit hundreds of hats for babies in the NICU. The nursing staff and the families of the NICU babies were so appreciative of her loving spirit.
• She used to make sure she had enough ice cream sandwiches and ice cream bars to pass out to all of the yard maintenance workers when they were finished with their jobs. The guys looked forward to this “treat” each week. Betty knew everything about their families and would ask for updates about them frequently.
• Betty made full-sized quilts, baby quilts, baby and toddler clothing. She also delighted in cooking for people. Nothing made her happier than to have her family sitting around the dining room table and enjoying the fruits of her cooking labor!
• Additionally, every Christmas season, Betty would bake 100’s of various cookies, box them up and pass them out to Veterinarians and staff, Doctors and staff members, car wash personnel, neighbors and yard maintenance workers!
She never wanted any acclamations, she just wanted to brighten up your day. Betty was passionate in helping others in every way. It was her love language.
In addition to her parents and daughter-in-law, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Stastny; and sister, Ann (Stastny) Murphy. She is survived by her son and his family, Steven Dale Clement and daughter-in-law, Amy Louise (Cooper) Clement; grandchildren, Nicole Lynne (Clement) Offenheiser, Bryan Steven Clement and his wife Tara (Finnegan) Clement, and Brandon Jacob Clement. She is also survived by her daughter and her family, Judith Ann (Clement) Jolokai and son-in-law, Gregory John Jolokai; grandchildren, Erica Marie-Lee Jolokai, and Nicholas Gregory Jolokai and his wife, Christina Alana (Kuno); great grandchildren from Nicholas & Christina, Aiden Orion Jolokai and Ruby Estelle Jolokai.
The services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024. The family will receive friends for one hour from 1:00-2:00 PM at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. After the visitation, there will be a funeral procession from the funeral home to Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC for the graveside service starting at 2:30 PM.
