Elizabeth DeSalvo's Obituary
Huntersville- We lost our mom yesterday; Betty D, Betty Boop, Mrs D. Mom was just several weeks shy of her 92nd birthday.
She battled courageously for many, many years, for which we will always be grateful and proud. Christine took incredible care of mom during her final years, ensuring that she had everything she needed and wanted (including numerous chocolate shakes and abundant cookies).
Elizabeth DeSalvo AKA Betty, had a long life filled with a large, loving family, including 5 children, 11 incredible grandchildren and 11 beautiful and wonderful great grandchildren. And very special nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, daughters-in-law, friends and more.
She played many different roles in life; mother ( at one point, she was the single parent of 5 ) teacher, cheerleading coach, wife, physical therapist assistant, dancer, dance instructor, grandma, great- grandma, aunt, mother-in-law, sister and friend.
She was strong and was a fighter. She fought for the underdog. She taught me to have compassion for all. She was an ocean lover. She loved her children with her whole heart. Mom was energetic and played tennis through her 70’s and also continued to work as a Teaching Assistant for special education students until she was 82 years old. She loved to dance and to this day dance remains a big passion of mine as well.
Although it hurts to say goodbye, we know that you are at peace now and without pain or discomfort. Go dance among the clouds now and be with God and all the angels. Reunite with your son Raymond and sister Ronnie Coughlin, Tony Kraly, Joan Dickson, Uncle Ray, Aunt Marga, Uncle Vinny, little Vinny and all of our other loved ones who await your arrival with open arms.
So fly free now until we meet again …………thank you for a lifetime of love and laughter and lessons and loyalty.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
