Elizabeth Vereen Knight, 83 of Stanley, NC died December 11, 2019. She was born on February 15, 1936 in Horry County, SC to the late John and Lannie Vereen. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim Knight and daughter, Voneda Read Obituary
Despite our age difference, from the first time I met Elizabeth at SouthLake Church 8 years ago, I have counted her as one of my dearest friends. She and Jim were a part of the group of us who always went to lunch together after church on Sundays. Both of them will always hold a special place in my heart. I will never forget the faith that Elizabeth exhibited especially during these last few weeks since her cancer diagnosis. She said she was not afraid because she knew that God was in control. Her only concern was for her children whom she adored, but I know God is going to take care of you too. Thank you, Jim, Jackie and Jonathan, for sharing your precious mama (and daddy) with us. I was blessed with the opportunity to work with Elizabeth at First Citizens Bank in Asheville. She helped me in so many ways. Her loving spirit and generosity to everyone was contagious. Her love for the Lord shined around everything she did. Her love for family was evident daily as we had many discussions about how to place God at the forefront of our family's lives. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I am certain that Jim and Voneda were waiting for Elizabeth as she entered heaven's gate for a wonderful reunion.

Mom you were the best Mom ever. Please know that i love you and i miss you. You were always so kind and thoughtful to us kids growing up. I have such great memories of my family as kid. You and Dad took good care of us. Had us in church and learning about Jesus from the start. I remember my childhood days on your Fathers farm and Sundays hanging out with Dad at the fire station. I had such a great childhood. Mom I love you. I with I could hug you and hear your voice. My heart is broke. But i know that now your body is whole again and no more suffering. God has many rewards for you in his kingdom. I hope Jesus sent Dad and Voneda to greet you. I will never live a day without you in my heart.
