Eugene Payne's Obituary
Eugene Payne, also known as “Bud”, 84, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away from a terminal illness on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025.
Eugene was born in Elaine, Arkansas to the late Carrie Mitchell and William Payne. He recently moved to Charlotte, NC to be with his daughter Eunice and son-in-law Dennis to continue caring for him and his wife.
Eugene is survived by his dear wife Josephine Payne of 65 years;
(1) Brother: Leon Payne and his wife Bertha Payne;
(5) Daughters: Bearlean (Gregory) Washington, Eunice (Dennis) Hampton, Celestine Payne Lake, Nora Payne and Carolyn (Jesse) Stefanik;
(6) Grandchildren: Candra Payne, Brandon (Shakira) Payne, Paris (Sanetra) Payne, Gregory Washington, Jr., Candace Payne, and Jacob Eugene Carter;
(5) Great grandchildren: Jordan Payne, Khadijah Payne, Kameryn Payne, Laila Payne and Jaxson Payne and many loving family and friends.
Eugene became one of Jehovah's Witnesses on September 10, 2005 and was appointed as a Ministerial Servant in the South Congregation, in Saginaw, MI and continued serving until his passing.
He retired from General Motors after 40 years of service in the Saginaw, Bay City Area and retired from Saginaw Public School Webber Junior High after 27 years of service. He was extremely hardworking, dedicated and devoted to his faith, work, wife and family.
One of the most cherished aspects of his life was his faith, which he expressed through one of his favorite scriptures at Matthew 6: 9,10. He often cited these comforting verses while on his knees in prayer, seeking strength and guidance from Jehovah God about sharing the good news with others about God's Kingdom.
Even as he faced challenges that made it difficult to kneel, his devotion never waivered. He seldom elevated his voice but when he did, it was with joy to sing his favorite Kingdom Melody “With Eyes of Faith”.
He was also known for his great storytelling and memorable quotes. His way of expressing reassurance was simply saying “That's Right!” In the words of our beloved brother, husband, father and friend, thanks, “Bud!”
"If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service, until my relief comes." —Job 14:14
