Evelyn McQueen Burgess' Obituary
Evelyn McQueen Burgess, 93, of Huntersville died December 22, 2024. She was born on January 18, 1931 in Richmond County, NC to the late Carl and Beulah McQueen. She worked as a special education teacher for 30 years. Teaching came naturally for her--not just in the classroom but in life. She cared for her students not only in the classroom but also for their lives at home and their families. Evelyn loved her family, her students and had a special love of music. Although very private, she had a strong faith and would witness to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their salvation was very important to her.
Her husband Jack preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Darlene Cash (Tommy) of Powell, WY; Belinda Richardson (Tim) of Charlotte and Toni Hall (Dale) of Concord; sister, Louise Bissette; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM at James Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 Friday, December 27 at First Baptist Church-Huntersville.
