Evelyn Omelia's Obituary
Evelyn E. (Comeau) O’Melia, 96, of Huntersville, formerly of Paul Revere Drive died Friday in a North Carolina Nursing Home. She was born in Springfield the daughter of the late Joseph and Eveline (Duclos) Comeau. She grew up in Agawam and had lived in Stockbridge, Peekskill, NY, Indianapolis and Westville, Indiana. She returned to Agawam in 1980 and moved to Huntersville, N.C. four years ago. A 1972 graduate of Purdue University’s North Central Campus, she received her Master’s Degree in 1977. Evelyn started her career working with the Eastern States Farmers Exchange and later worked as a secretary, taught Science and Health to the 5th, 6th and 8thgrade at Boone Grove Elementary School in Indiana and upon her return to the Springfield area retired from the Forest Park Branch of the Springfield Library, where she worked as an assistant in the Children’s Room. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills, past president, recording secretary and chaplain of the Golden Age Club Chapter 1 in Agawam. She also belonged to the Agawam Senior Center, AARP and was a former member of Kappa Kappa Kappa Inc. in Indiana. Her husband Lawrence M. O’Melia died in 1972.
She leaves a daughter Christine L. Blevins of Trotwood, OH; two grandsons Patrick and Michael Blevins and great grandsons Blake and Seth Blevins. A private funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by burial in Springfield Street Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Agawam Senior Center 954 Main St, Agawam, MA 01001.
