Evelyn Wallace's Obituary
Evelyn (Sissy) Armenta Wells Wallace died in her home in Savannah, Georgia, on Wednesday, September 25. Born in Charlotte, NC, on April 6, 1943, she was the second child of Edward and Audrey Wells, graduated from North Mecklenburg High School, attended Kings Business School, was a member of the staffs of Erskine College and Agnes Scott College, served as administrative assistant to the regional presidents of Cummins Carolina Diesel, Kraft Foods and Alliant Food Service. For the majority of her adult life she was a member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church.
Gifted with a beautiful alto voice, she sang in the Charlotte Choral Society, The Festival Singers, Renaissance, Sure Foundation and The Bach Festival Choir. During her tenure with the latter choir two concerts were presented with the London Symphony Orchestra.
She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Dr. Robert M. Wallace, Jr., sons Bob, his wife Mari and their son, Carter, of Huntersville, NC, Brian of Vasteras, Sweden and Brandon, his wife Melissa and their children, Abbey and Noah, of Savannah, Georgia, brother DeRoy Wells and his wife, Jean, of Gaffney, SC and sister Donna Oh of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and her daughter Liza of New York City.
A celebration of Sissy’s life and the faith that undergirded and shined through it will take place at 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 29, in the chapel of James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. The family will receive friends following the service.
They request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Spanish Oaks Hospice, 8510 Whitfield Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31406, or to the organization of the donor’s choice.
