Florence Kirch's Obituary
Mrs. Florence “Flo” Kirch, 79, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 8, 2021.
The oldest of seven children, Flo was born on October 22, 1941 in Freeport, NY to the late Kenneth and Madeline Carman.
Growing up in Merrick, NY, Flo met the love of her life, Matthew “Matt” Kirch, while still in High School. They were were married for 58 years this February. Flo loved her family and friends more than anything, and especially loved being “Nana” to her grandchildren. Always thoughtful, she never forgot to acknowledge an important date for family and friends. And with her warmth and easy smile, she made lifelong friends everywhere she went (which made for a packed calendar!). Flo was renowned for her cooking and baking, especially around the holidays. She thoroughly enjoyed living the beach life on Long Island and, during the winter, in the Florida Keys. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Kirch, who was taken from us far too soon.
Flo is survived by her husband, Matthew Kirch, and son Jim Kirch (Denise); grandchildren Eldridge Moore, Jordan Moore, Andrew Kirch, Erin Kirch; her brothers John Carman, Kenneth Carman, William Carman, George Carman and her sisters Betty Maugeri and Dorothy Podel.
On behalf of Flo’s family, a very special thank you to all the staff at Levine & Dickson Hospice & Palliative Care for the extraordinary care and kindness shown to her.
A visitation will be at 2pm on March 17, at James Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3pm. The funeral will be live-streamed on the James Funeral Home Facebook page at 3pm. www.Facebook.com/JamesFuneralHome
