Frank James Hunt's Obituary
Frank James Hunt (Scoby), age 78, of Huntersville, died on Saturday, September 14, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born in Maxton, NC on December 31, 1940, and was the son of the late Willie Foster Hunt and Ella Ree Lowery Hunt.
Frank was a deacon of Lake Haven Community Church for 15 years. He was a man of faith.
Frank retired from Davey Tree Company as a master foreman. Frank loved to watch Atlanta Braves, racing and all sports. One of his major accomplishments was learning to read at the age of 63.
Frank is survived by his children, Randy Smith of Huntersville, Vickey Holmes (Leonard) of Indian Trail, James Calvin Hunt, James “David” Hunt ( Deb), of Huntersville, Nancy Salazar (Robert McElrath) of Lincolnton, and Toni Hilton of Marshville, NC; seven grandchildren, Michael Smith, Christopher Smith, Morgan Holmes, Heather Smith, Dakota Hilton, Ryan McElrath and Hunter Hilton; two great grandchildren, Ava Holmes and Nolan Ziegler; siblings, Gearlene H. Callicutt (Harda), Stacy Hunt, Mary Hazel Oxendine (Lee Roy), Linda Hill (Marshal), and Ricky Hunt (Sheila) with a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins and Zara Lamm, a special friend and his caregiver.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Smith Hunt on April 9, 1999, a daughter, Sandra Kay Salazar, siblings, Carsee Hunt, Patsy Hunt, Earl Locklear, Clayton Hunt, Willie Hunt, Jr. and Angel Hunt.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:45 am at Little Zion Church, Maxton, NC. Frank’s Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM in the sanctuary of the church. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
